Two Kitchen Fires in two days |

Point Cook Fire Brigade attend two Kitchen Fires in two days.
In both instances only minimal damage resulted, however, it is a reminder that safety in the home is a personal responsibility and should not be taken lightly. These fires could have resulted in much greater losses and yet there are many steps that a home owner/renter can take to minimise any risks.
Simple things such as a fire blanket or fire extinguisher can be at the ready should the need arise.
According to CFA 2002 statistics, out of 1300 house fires, approximately 30% of them started in the kitchen.
For more information regarding saftey in your home, please visit the CFA website at http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/residents/home/index.htm

May 2006 Fire Calls
We had 10 Primary Calls and 14 Support Calls. Point Cook is still proving to be on the quiet side when it comes to fires and other incidents. We did have a brief run of bin fires, one of which caused some damage to a corner shop in the area. Thankfully, however, this run has now ceased.

Would you believe it's been 8 months since the website started and whilst the initial look was not too bad, thought it time to change to something a little better. Hopefully this has a more professional look and better layout.
Please take the time to complete the poll on the right of your screen regarding the new look as we value your opinion.
If you find something that does not look right, or something that you believe needs fixing, please send us an e-mail to let us know what it is. |

April 2006 Point Cook Fire Calls:
We had 8 Primary Calls and 10 Support Calls. Only a couple of which were the result of a fire. It is worth noting that Fire Brigades do not only attend fires but we also get called to other incidents such as car accidents or gas leaks, and we should be thankful that all indications are that Point Cook is quite a safe place to live. |

First of all I must apologise for the delays in updating the website. With a lot on my plate lately, I had to put the updates on the back burner.
March activity for Point Cook Fire Brigade:
March was a quiet month for us as we only had 10 Primary Calls and 10 Support Calls.
The turnout details for 2006 up to and including March have now been updated.
General elections:
The Point Cook Fire Brigade General Elections were held in the first week of April.
Whilst three members of the new team are in fact part of the old team, only two brigade members were re-elected to the same positions
Results of the elections were:
1st Lt - Bill Garner
2nd Lt - Michael Piscopo
3rd Lt - Adam Dancey
4th Lt - Peter Tester
Treasurer - Kevin Thursby
Comms. Officer - Grant Treloar
Secretary - Andrew Matthews
Thankyou to all outgoing officers for your commitment over the last two years and we now welcome the new team. |
