Time for an update

I apologise about the delay in getting things up to date on the website but I have been busy with both work and other brigade activities.

So what is new?

TylerRoyal Children's Hospital Appeal.
On Good Friday we will be door knocking in the Point Cook and Seabrook areas collecting for the RCH Good Friday Appeal. If there are any Schools, Sporting Groups or Community Groups that would like to assist us on the day, please complete the RCH - Good Friday Form.

CallsCalls this Year
On the left of your screen you will now see something called "Calls This Year", (you may need to scroll the screen down a bit to see it). This figure is how many calls the Point Cook Fire Brigade have attended so far this year. The figure is usually updated about every second or third day whereas the list of turnouts is only updated at the end of each month.

What's been happening
Wednesday, 06 December 2006

Well it's been a while since I have put any news on the website and there has been lots of things going on that have caused this. I hope to dedicate a bit more time to keeping the site updated and the public informed of what has been happening around the area.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be bringing the turnout statistics up to date as well as other parts of the site. One thing that you may have noticed already is that the photo gallery has changed somewhat. The change was made to a new system as the old one was not readily able to cope with the amount of pictures we were getting. I hope you like the new format as it is a vast improvement on the old one.

What's happening around Point Cook
It's been fairly quite for a while, however over the last few days the conditions have been such that Werribee, Truganina, Hoppers Crossing and ourselves have had quite a bit going on. The other intense time was when the storm hit the Wyndham area a while back.

Major Fires Update
With the fires in the North East and NSW, several brigade members have gone on Strike Teams and it looks like there will be many to follow during this season. Updates of what is happening can be obtained from the CFA website on the Incidents Updates Page and the DSE website on the Fires Updates Page

A time to be cautious
Just because we live in the suburbs, there is no reason for us to be careless during the fire season. With water supplies as they are, many people are no longer watering their gardens and plants are very dry. Even in a suburb such as Point Cook, it is quite easy for a discarded cigarette butt to cause major problems.
You should also ensure that you are aware of days of Total Fire BanTotal Fire Ban. This is usually in the papers, on TV and Radio, but you can also find out directly from the CFA website on the Total Fire Bans Page
One simple rule of thumb to follow during summer is "If in doubt, put it out".

2006 Point Cook Trivia Night
Sunday, 22 October 2006

The Point Cook Fire Brigade Trivia Night was held Saturday 21st October, and from all accounts so far, was a resounding success. The night was a sellout and the feedback I have heard so far was that all who attended thought the night was "great fun".

Thanks must go to the many businesses and public who made donations of prizes and we will be shortly putting a Donors Page on the site as a special thanks to them.

A very special thanks to those involved in the organisation of the night and those who donated their time, effort and resources to making this a night to remember.

Last, but not least, thank you to all those who attended on the night as without you there would have been no 2006 Point Cook Fire Brigade Trivia Night.

Regards,
Point Cook Fire Brigade.

House Fire in Shane Ave Seabrook
Friday, 04 August 2006

Point Cook firefighters enter the buildingWhat started as a quite Saturday morning quickly changed into a frantic battle to save a house.
About 09:45 Saturday morning, Point Cook Fire Brigade was paged to a house fire in Shane Ave Seabrook.
Arriving on scene, the rear of the house was fully involved in fire and spreading toward the front. A joint effort by the CFA and MFB brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes and ensured that no other properties were damaged.

No one was injured in the fire, however the house was extensively damaged.

Pictures from the fire can be found in our Photo Gallery
