April 2006 Point Cook Fire Calls:
We had 8 Primary Calls and 10 Support Calls. Only a couple of which were the result of a fire. It is worth noting that Fire Brigades do not only attend fires but we also get called to other incidents such as car accidents or gas leaks, and we should be thankful that all indications are that Point Cook is quite a safe place to live.

General Elections:
Whilst April was not busy with fire calls, we did have the general elections held at the start of the month. Welcome to the new position holders and thanks goes to the outgoing holders for their time and effort over the last 2 years.

Latest recruit course completed:
Congratulations to the new guys and welcome to the world of getting up at 2am in the morning to go to a call only ending up being told "sorry guys... false alarm".

Community Events:
April also saw us participating in several community events in the area.

The Good Friday Appeal was a great success and we managed to raise over $5,000 for the Royal Children's Hospital. Weather drew the day to a close early, so if we missed your house during the collection, save those pennies for next year. We hope you will assist us with twice as much. Thankyou to all those who made donations, those who participated in the collection on the day, and a big thankyou to the Point Cook Fire Brigade Auxiliary for making the day what it was.

The Point Cook Air Pageant was a great day, crowd numbers were down from the last time but once again I think the weather had a lot to do with the smaller turn out. Thankyou to those brigade members who volunteered to attend.

The Vicurban Family Fun Day turned out to be a terrible day from the point of view of the weather so crowd numbers were very small. Even so we did manage to get both trucks there on the day and it still turned out to be quite a bit of fun.

Here we are getting close to mid-way through the year, where does the time go?
